Chalky, faded, oxidised paint is dead clear coat sitting on top of good colour — cut that back with machine polishing and the colour and gloss come straight back.
Melbourne sun is hard on neglected paint. Oxidation is the clear coat breaking down on the surface — it goes chalky, flat and pale. As long as there's enough clear coat left, machine correction removes that dead layer and reveals the healthy paint underneath.
The transformation on a badly oxidised bonnet or roof is dramatic. To keep it, we seal the restored paint with a coating so the UV can't chew it up again — particularly worth it on reds and dark colours.
