GYEON and ONYX ceramic coatings, machine paint correction and overspray removal for Ripponlea drivers. We come to you, or you bring the car to our Berwick studio (36 km from Ripponlea).
Inner-city paint in Ripponlea takes a different kind of wear from the suburbs further out: parallel-parking scuffs, plane-tree sap, bird droppings baked on between moves, and a fine metallic dust from tram and train lines that a wash does not shift.
Every Ripponlea booking is handled by Andy himself — owner-operated, 30+ years on paint, and the same standard for a daily driver, a work ute or a weekend car. Tell us the car and what is bothering you and you will get a straight answer.
Around Ripponlea station and Burnett Gray Gardens.
Steel wheels on steel rails shed fine metal dust that settles on nearby cars and corrodes into the clear coat as tiny rust specks. It is dissolved chemically, never scrubbed.
Plane trees and elms line most streets here. Sap and bird droppings etch within a hot afternoon, and a street-parked car cannot be moved out from under them.
Bumper corners and wheel arches collect paint transfer from tight parks. Transfer sits on top of the paint and usually polishes off; kerbed wheels are a separate repair.
Basement stackers and narrow ramps leave scrapes along sills and mirrors. We correct what the clear coat allows and are straight about what needs a panel shop.
We inspect the paint under proper lighting and measure the clear coat, then tell you what it actually needs.
Iron-fallout treatment and a clay strip, so nothing is ever sealed in under the coating.
Machine polishing in measured stages to remove swirls and etching rather than fill them.
GYEON or ONYX applied panel by panel and cured under cover — in the studio, or in your garage on a mobile job — with the warranty registered.
CDS is mobile across Melbourne's south-east, Ripponlea included, and also runs a studio in Berwick (36 km from you) if you would rather drop the car in. Street parking and shared basements are the catch: a coating has to cure dry and under cover, and most body corporates do not allow water or power use in the car park. With a private garage, mobile works; without one, the studio is the better answer. Mention your parking set-up when you enquire and Andy will say honestly which way gives the better result.
Yes. That is rail or brake dust embedded in the clear coat. It is dissolved with an iron treatment and clayed out, then the paint is sealed so it has a much harder time coming back.
Usually. Transfer from another car or a bollard sits on the surface and polishes off. If the scratch is through the clear coat we will tell you before quoting.
A coating. It will not stop sap and droppings landing, but it stops them bonding, so they can be lifted off safely instead of leaving an etched ring.
