Black is the most rewarding paint to get right and the least forgiving to get wrong. Every wash mark, every swirl and every water spot shows.
Black has no pigment variation to hide behind. On silver, fine scratches scatter light and disappear; on black they read as a spiderweb the moment the car sits in direct sun. That is why a black car can be genuinely clean and still look poor.
Coating a swirled black car locks the swirls in under a glossy layer — you can still see every one of them. On black, the correction is the job. We measure the clear coat, then work in stages to remove the marring rather than fill it, so what you are left with is real depth rather than a temporary glaze.
Keeping black right afterwards is mostly about wash discipline: rinse hard before touching it, use clean plush microfibre, and never wipe dust off dry. A coating makes all of that far more forgiving, which on black is the difference between looking spectacular and looking tired again by autumn.
