From swirl removal to a multi-year graphene coating, Carrum cars are looked after two ways: mobile, at your place, or at our Berwick studio roughly 20 km up the road.
Salt is the whole story in Carrum. Air off the water carries a fine saline film that settles on paint, trim and brightwork and keeps working on it long after the car looks dry.
There is no sales team and no subcontracting. Andy assesses, corrects and coats every car from Carrum himself, with more than thirty years on paint behind him, and will tell you honestly if a job is not worth doing.
Around Carrum station and The Beauty Spot.
Salt film on glass scatters light and makes night driving harder. Glass coating keeps it clearer and sheds water at speed.
A fine saline film settles on the car constantly and attracts moisture. On a coated car it rinses off; on bare paint it sits and works away at it.
Sand is abrasive. Wiping it off a panel scratches the paint, and it packs into sills, seat rails and carpet.
Sun off the water adds to the direct UV load, which is what fades reds and blacks and chalks plastic trim.
We inspect the paint under proper lighting and measure the clear coat, then tell you what it actually needs.
Iron-fallout treatment and a clay strip, so nothing is ever sealed in under the coating.
Machine polishing in measured stages to remove swirls and etching rather than fill them.
GYEON or ONYX applied panel by panel and cured under cover — in the studio, or in your garage on a mobile job — with the warranty registered.
Andy works mobile in Carrum and from the Berwick studio, which is about 20 km from you, so it is your choice. Near the water it is salt air and the sea breeze that matter: a coating needs to cure dry and out of the wind. A closed garage does that; otherwise the studio does. Either way it is the same person, the same products and the same registered warranty.
More often than inland - a thorough rinse after windy days and beach trips helps a lot. On a coated car that rinse does most of the work.
Yes. Brightwork and plastic trim suffer as much as paint by the water, and both can be coated.
Rinse the lower panels, wheels and the tow bar area after every ramp run. Coated wheels and sills make that rinse far more effective.
