GYEON and ONYX ceramic coatings, machine paint correction and overspray removal for Blackburn drivers. We come to you, or you bring the car to our Berwick studio (30 km from Blackburn).
A lot of what we see from Blackburn is good paint that has simply been washed the wrong way for a few years. Garaged, well kept, never neglected - and still covered in the fine circular marring a mitt and a hurried towel leave behind. That is exactly what measured correction is for.
There is no sales team and no subcontracting. Andy assesses, corrects and coats every car from Blackburn himself, with more than thirty years on paint behind him, and will tell you honestly if a job is not worth doing.
Around Blackburn Square, Laburnum station and Blackburn station.
Established gardens and nature strips mean sap, blossom and bird droppings, all of which etch into clear coat if they bake on through a warm week.
European clear coats are hard and take more passes to correct properly; Japanese and some EV finishes are soft and easy to over-polish. Each gets its own approach.
A fast rotary polish leaves buffer trails that only show in direct sun. We see plenty of cars that have been 'detailed' this way and need it undone before they can be coated.
Even garaged cars pick up fine dust, and car covers dragged across a dusty panel leave their own marring. A coating makes the surface far more forgiving of both.
Paint depth readings and a close look under the lights before anything touches the car.
A full wash, then chemical and clay decontamination to strip out what washing leaves behind.
Correction matched to your paint - gentler on soft clear coats, more passes on hard ones.
The coating goes on panel by panel and cures under cover before the car goes back on the road.
CDS is mobile across Melbourne's south-east, Blackburn included, and also runs a studio in Berwick (30 km from you) if you would rather drop the car in. Established homes usually have what a mobile job needs - a garage or carport, power and water - so most work here can be done on site while you get on with the day. Mention your parking set-up when you enquire and Andy will say honestly which way gives the better result.
Usually. We measure the clear coat first, because a previous heavy polish may have taken some of it. If there is enough left, holograms and buffer trails can be refined out; if there is not, we will tell you before starting.
For a garaged car where the look in direct sun matters most we generally lean GYEON for its clarity; for a car that does real kilometres, ONYX 10H graphene for durability. Often either is a good answer and we will say so.
It sharpens it. A properly corrected and coated finish reads deeper and glossier, and it stops the flat, hazy look paint gets as it oxidises.
